My Story

I'm Ryan Lawler, author of From Hell to Holy and host of the upcoming podcast of the same name.

I know what it's like to go through hell. I also know there are two very different ways to walk through it — with God, or without Him. Without God, the road is heavier and it bends toward self-destruction: addiction, anger, anxiety, depression. With God, something shifts. The same hard season that could break you becomes the very thing He uses to build you. Pain turns into praise. Striving turns into surrender. Hell turns into holy.

That's not a theory for me — it's my testimony. Over fifteen years in corporate America, mostly in finance and operations, I built the kind of life that looks successful from the outside. But my own journey through hell taught me that real transformation doesn't come from holding it all together; it comes from handing it all over. Today I have more than a year of sobriety, a marriage I'm grateful for, and a faith that's been forged rather than inherited. From Hell to Holy is the book I wish I'd had in my darkest seasons — part story, part roadmap, giving readers the tools and the encouragement to see how God is using their hardest moments to make them who He created them to be.

As a speaker, I bring that story to life. There's nothing I'd rather spend my life doing. My message is versatile and built for the room it's in — youth and young adult gatherings, men's conferences, marriage conferences, revival nights, and transformational weekends, or a Sunday sermon.

When I'm not writing or speaking, my life is rooted in the everyday faithfulness I talk about on stage. I've been married to my wife, Carissa, for nine years, and together we serve as Deacons at our church.  I'm a dad to a daughter and a son, an avid golfer, and an active member of our neighborhood and community. I grew up around the church and was actively involved through my youth and young adult years.  I have always had calling on my life to serve God — but the relationship with God I have now is the one I fought for, and it's the one I want to help you find too.

If you're walking through hell right now, I want you to know it doesn't have to be the end of your story. It might just be the beginning of your Hell to Holy story.
